When I first laid my eyes on Blythe dolls, I honestly thought they were truly horrifying. Their huge round eyes and shiny plastic monotone facial expression was nothing but creepy. However, one day I came across an image of a customized Blythe doll (you know I'm all about customizations). They were so perfect! So beautiful! I googled and googled more images all through the night. I had to have one!! Well, the day has come! After months of looking and researching which doll to get, how to customize, where to buy!, I finally have my first Blythe doll! She is a blank factory Takara Blythe that I purchased from an EBay seller. I wanted someone from the US since I didn't want to wait weeks for it to arrive from China. My doll was $99 +shipping. Most factory dolls will run you about that same price point. If you would like to watch me unbox her, here is a video!
Sorry, I sound like a total dorkster, but I was just oh so excited! She is beautiful with super long soft hair (really, it feels like human hair!) Once she arrived, I quickly went to the tutorials I have been studying for so long. I opened up her head to get started on the customizations!
Before and after the sand matting!
Today, I made her a cute mushroom like hat :) I have yet to order any dresses and accessories for her! I am so picky! Some of the doll's dresses are almost as pricey as outfits for myself! Ha! There is still a lot of work to do, but once I feel I am finished, I will surely take TONS of photos!
